Marset

In any conversation relating about contemporary lighting, the name Marset is bound to be mentioned. For decades, the Barcelona-based designer lighting brand has been stunning the industry with its clean, timeless designs, remarkably innovative shapes, fusion of materials, and state-of-the-art manufacturing techniques. Marset Lighting overdelivers by providing its clients with products envisioned by world-renowned designers who, in turn, partner with expert artisans who exercise rigorous attention to detail. Together, they create lighting that surprises, thrills, and, perhaps most importantly, endures, so that it can contribute to a more sustainable and beautifully luminous world.

All Marset lamps are made by skilled craftspeople who take part in the entire production process – from the genesis of conceptual drawings on paper to the kiln, the die-cutter, and at last, the finishing table. Quality control is also performed in-house, giving Marset complete control over the finishing quality of all its product lines. Marset also requrires its designers to incorporate environmental responsibility into their toolkits – which the company views as imperative for the future of the planet.

Whether you’re looking for pendants, floor lamps, ceiling lamps, chandeliers, table lamps, portable lamps, wall lamps, or lighting accessories for the interior of your home or project, Marset has you covered. But Marset does more than produce lighting products; it thoroughly considers the concept of light and all its various nuances and effects. As a result, Marset Lighting’s creations improve people’s quality of life by creating enhanced experiences through illumination.

History

Marset was officially founded in 1976 by Paco Marset, who transformed his family’s metal casting business from the 1940s into the lighting brand we know today. By the 1990s, the brand began to gain recognition for its high quality and unmatched design. During this period, the third generation of family members used this brand positioning to expand the company’s reach internationally. Recently, Marset moved to its new 118,000-square-foot headquarters in Terrassa, just outside of Barcelona. This new workplace sits alongside Marset’s showrooms in Barcelona, Milan, and Cologne, plus its U.S. headquarters in New York City.

Materials

Over the years, Marset Lighting has risen to its renowned level of excellence through constant exploration, unfailingly placing value on the behavior of the materials it uses. Ceramics, wood, glass, polycarbonate, and textiles are all elements that express unique personality in the forming of Marset lamps. For example, the Dipping Light was created as an experiment: dipping a lit bulb into paint several times. The various layers of paint draw concentric circles, which moderate the intensity of the light and produce an extraordinary visual effect.

Designers

What separates Marset from its competitors is its courageous approach to design innovation. The company believes, and rightly so, that collaborating with the most talented and revered creatives in the industry is much more than endorsing their designs; it’s about trusting their talent and giving them the green light to discover new paths and explore new ideas that bring meaning to – and heighten – the brand.
