Harry Bertoia

Harry Bertoya’s furniture designs for Knoll play a significant role in the legacy left behind by this versatile, influential artist. Knoll produced its first Bertoia chairs – their innovative use of malleable wire breaking a tradition of wood frames – in the 1950s. Bertoya’s acute awareness of body dynamics and his resulting, groundbreaking wire grid concept, led to Bertoya for Knoll becoming a pillar of the Knoll brand, and it has remained so for many a decade later.
