Tuuci Parasol Care

TUUCI PARASOLS

Opening and Closing

As anxious as you might be to start “throwing shade”, it is highly encouraged to open your TUUCI parasol with care. A few things to keep in mind:

  • Prior to opening, ensure that the shade product is properly secured to an adequate shade anchor, using the locking system intended for the specific product (star knob, hitch pin or cam lock).
  • When opening a TUUCI parasol, separate each rib 6 inches from the center post before raising the hub. Do not force the hub if it does not rise easily.
  • The same mindful, gentle approach applies when closing the parasol. Pull the fabric out from between the struts to avoid pinching or damaging.

Cleaning

For general or light cleaning, follow these simple steps:

1) Apply a mixture of mild soap and warm water to the fabric with a sponge or soft brush. Rinse thoroughly and let air dry.

2) For more stubborn stains or mildew: add one cup of bleach per gallon of soap and water and apply directly to the stain using a sponge or soft brush. Allow the mixture to soak into the fabric for up to 15 minutes, then rinse thoroughly and air dry.

Think of it this way: the more you love your TUUCI, the more it will love you back. Freshwater rinses once a week will enhance the life and long-lasting beauty of your TUUCI shade equipment. Also, be sure to check for loose screws and if you find any, tighten them immediately. Should you notice any broken components, replace them as soon as possible to avoid further damage to your product.

High Winds
When things get gusty, this is not the time to throw caution to the wind. Quite the opposite. While most TUUCI frames have been tested for structural integrity in winds exceeding 50 MPH, it is always recommended that caution and common sense be applied in extreme wind and weather conditions. Better to play it safe and close your collapsible TUUCI shade equipment when wind conditions exceed 25 MPH.

Proper care and maintenance should prevent broken parasols, but in the event your parasol requires repair, all TUUCI products are built with 100% replaceable parts.

Tuuci Shade Anchors

TUUCI SHADE ANCHORS

Let’s touch base about TUCCI Shade Anchors for a moment. These few small measures can make a big difference in extending the life and efficiency of your TUUCI shade anchor. Here are the “do’s and don’ts”:

  • DO be sure the parasol mast is firmly attached to the shade anchor before opening.
  • DO gently clean your above-ground parasol shade anchors regularly to maintain appearance, using water and a non-abrasive cloth or pad.
  • DO check all bolts in the shade anchor plate regularly to ensure that they remain fully tightened.
  • DON’T roll Aluma-crete shade anchors on their side, as damage to the shell or finish might occur.
  • DON’T drag quickly along uneven surfaces. TUUCI Wheeled Parasol Shade Anchors are intended for use on even surfaces, so if you must move them along an uneven surface, move slowly and with caution.
  • To avoid damage to the welded wheel tray, DON’T move TUUCI Shade Anchors along stairways—or over distances that exceed 50 feet.

And DON’T stress, because if all else fails, shade anchors can be spruced up with TUUCI exterior touch-up paint if need be.

Tuuci Textiles Care

TUUCI TEXTILE CANOPIES, CURTAINS, AND TENSIONED FABRIC WALLS

So, which do you want first? The good news… or the better news?

Well, since TUUCI’s high-performance textile parasol canopies employ the most durable, UV stable, and state-of-the-art marine fabrics, the good news is they are going to last and last.

Still—like all things precious—you want to take the best care of them possible. That means cleaning TUUCI textiles regularly to avoid dirt accumulating and becoming embedded in the fabric. Just brush off any loose dirt, hose down and clean with mild soap and lukewarm water, rinse thoroughly and allow to air dry. For stubborn stains, clean with a mild soap mixed with one cup of bleach diluted with a gallon of water. Scrub with a soft bristle brush, sponge, or towel. *note: Vigorous cleaning can remove some of the water repellency, in which case the fabric should receive an application of an air-curing water repellent treatment (such as SM fabric guard).

And now here’s that even better news you’ve been waiting for: It’s super-convenient to clean your TUUCI canopy, because you can do so without having to remove it from the frame!

One last thing before you go: In cases when storage is necessary, your TUUCI high-performance textile canopy should be cleaned, air-dried, and stored in a dry & well-ventilated area. A TUUCI Protective Cover should always be utilized when the parasol is not in use to ensure long life.
