Dounia

Lovingly made for private homes, hospitality destinations, corporate headquarters, commercial and retail spaces, and more, Moroccan designer lighting brand Dounia Home’s deluxe lighting collections are a true marriage between form, function, and craftsmanship. Each pendant, sconce, lamp, and chandelier encompasses the past and present, and has been meticulously crafted using traditional Moroccan metalworking techniques passed down through generations. Each fixture features hand-etched designs – a distinguishing characteristic of Moroccan décor – giving each product a personal touch. Dounia Home’s luxury Moroccan lighting brings an exotic, stylish impact to any room it graces.

The historic and artistic landscape of founder Dounia Tamri-Loeper’s native homeland of Morocco provides endless inspiration. Her eponymous lighting company Dounia Home empowers its artisans creatively, economically, and culturally through a collaborative, ethical, and transparent business model that showcases, preserves, and supports traditional art forms while welcoming new skills and exploring the boundaries of the craft. When you purchase a Dounia product, you are purchasing a part of history and at the same time, helping sustain a local artisan community and ensuring the continuity of the trade.

While steeped in history, Dounia Home’s lighting products are also infused with the latest technologies, incorporating high-quality, energy-efficient LED lights whose spectrum mimics that of natural sunlight (which has been shown to improve mood and decrease stress). As a result of this technology, Dounia’s fixtures shine a beautiful healing light that betters your health and overall happiness. In addition, Dounia regularly introduces fresh, new designs to its collections, which include stunning lighting options in an array of metal finishes for living spaces, bedrooms, kitchens, offices, and transitional areas.

Clima Home is proud to offer Dounia Home lighting and home products and to be the only authorized retailer of the brand in Florida.

History

Dounia Home founder and CEO Dounia Tamri-Loeper grew up in both Safi and Marrakesh, Morocco; one a sun-drenched coastal town, the other a bustling city near the foothills of the Atlas Mountains. In Safi, she was inspired by a rich array of artisan ceramicists whose skill and style had been passed down through generations. In this setting, she developed her own unique style as an artist, and a passion for merging textures, forms, and patterns.

In 2003, Tamri-Loeper moved to the U.S. to pursue her education and creative goals. After graduating from Drexel University in Philadelphia with a B.S. in design, she sought positions in product design and production, eventually having the honor of working with the esteemed American architect Michael Graves.

It was always Tamri-Loeper’s dream to share her Moroccan heritage and unique artistic vision with the world. Thus, in 2015, she created Dounia Home and today, the company’s mission is to produce innovative, high-quality lighting that supports a community of local artisans and preserves the traditional metalworking handicraft. “I hope you find as much joy in our lighting as we take in creating these stunning sconces, pendants, and chandeliers for you,” she says.

Materials

Dounia Home’s light fixtures are made from high-quality, locally sourced copper, brass, and nickel silver. All three semi-precious metals are eco-friendly, as they are 100% recyclable and use less energy-intensive processes to recycle than other types of metal such as aluminum or steel. The metals Dounia uses are also durable and long-lasting, and sealed with a topcoat to prevent tarnishing.

The company ensures its products are made from sustainable and incorporate the most eco-friendly components. To reduce its carbon footprint, Dounia has also created plastic-free packaging and biodegradable packing elements. Likewise, all boxes are made from recycled materials, and all products come in handmade fabric bags that can be reused or upcycled.
