Bertoia

Ever since its launch in 1952, Knoll Furniture‘s Bertoia collection has been in continuous production. Painter, sculptor, and furniture designer, Harry Bertoia had been given the freedom to let his imagination loose, and so he did. The result was an inspiring collection that consisted of barstools, chairs, and benches made from welded steel rods. Today, the Bertoia collection is considered a staple in the history of mid-century modern furniture design.

Here at CLIMA, our goal is to create a selection of iconic outdoor and indoor pieces of furniture that represent a specific era of modern design. Bertoia’s collection for Knoll definitely defines the 1950s and showcases the influence of industrial materials and clean lines, but the collection also carries a timeless quality that makes it feel chic and trendy, even today.

Blends in and Matches Any Decor
The beauty of Bertoia’s collection is that you can take the latest modern style furniture and combine it with, let’s say, Bertoia’s Diamond chair and still end up with a cohesive aesthetic. It’s quite unbelievable how Knoll and Harry Bertoia where forward-thinking when they released this collection back in 1952. If you’re looking to enrich your living space with a famous piece of furniture, but you also want to achieve a contemporary theme, this collection should definitely fit your needs.

A Work of Art or a Chair?
Another thing this collection does effortlessly is blending art, beauty, and functionality. Looking at these models, it’s easy to get carried away and mistake them as sculptures. That being said, the functionality is undeniable, and if you opt for the vinyl seat pads, these chairs and benches can be suitable even for outdoor use.
