History

In the late 1980s, while traveling many regions of the world, founder Henry Andrew Hall developed newfound insight into the world of furniture design and production. Drawing upon family influences in art, architecture, and business, he created a unique opportunity to collaborate on what would be his first outdoor furniture collection. In 1996, he applied his family’s namesake to the company name and widely expanded its product scope. From these early audiences of family and friends, the brand has grown to garner worldwide recognition from top design professionals, publications, and throngs of loyal consumers. With every new collection, Henry Hall Designs stays true to its roots and its aim of inspiring others to enjoy their outdoor environments as fully, comfortably, and luxuriously as possible. The privately owned company, which is still helmed by founder Henry Hall, has been a member of the Foundation for Design Integrity since June 2006.

Henry Hall Designs showcases the talents of numerous award-winning international designers. They include:

  • Esteemed English designer John Reeves (Flow Collection), winner of the Elle Decoration Future Classic Award in 2006
  • San Francisco-based designer Ted Boerner, whose Mariposa Collection for Henry Hall Designs is an outdoor reinterpretation of his original Nest Sofa design
  • Italian-born, London-based designer and architect Marco Acerbis (Domino Collection), who, in 2010, was selected as a finalist for the Renzo Piano Foundation Award for Young Talent Architect
  • Romanian-born designer Andrei Munteanu, who collaborated with Henry Hall on the Tru Pure Collection
  • Italian designers Marco Paolelli and Sandro Meneghello of Meneghello Paolelli Associati (Tweed Collection), which has been honored with 10 Red Dot Design Awards, among other notable recognitions

Materials

Superior-quality, sustainably managed teak is at the heart of all Henry Hall Designs products. The brand only sources teak that is properly matured to where the oil content is at its peak. The wood is then kiln-dried, which strengthens it for long-term use. When left unfinished (as is the standard for all of Henry Hall Designs’ furniture collections), the sunlight and air will oxidize the top layer of the wood to turn to a beautiful silver-gray color.

Other environmentally responsible materials used in Henry Hall Designs outdoor furniture include:

  • powder-coated and zinc-plated aluminum
  • electropolished stainless steel
  • WaProLace, a high-quality, 100 percent recyclable, synthetic and weatherproof polyethylene fiber
  • Tempotest, a mold- and soil-resistant, oil- and water-repellent acrylic fiber
  • Olefin weave, a handwoven, 100 percent recyclable polyolefin rope

Also worth noting: Henry Hall Designs custom-makes all of its cushions in-house with a standard medium-density hypoallergenic polyurethane foam. A Dri-Fast foam option is also available. Cushions are fabricated in the customer’s own material (C.O.M.)

“With every new collection, Henry Hall Designs inspires and indulges the luxury of enjoying one’s own environment.”
